What are ChemoGirls Extensions?
ChemoGirls by Jon Richards is a line of micro strand fusions designed for full-head hair replacement. These extensions are quite revolutionary. The tiny bonds are organic, transparent and totally invisible and the hair can be reapplied and worn up to 1 year!
How soon can you get ChemoGirls Extensions?
In order to get started, you will want to have at least 1-2 inches of new growth all over. It's important to have enough regrowth so that your scalp doesn't show. If you can see scalp, that means your bonds would show and you're not quite there yet. Don't get discouraged, it will grow! The more length you have, the better the blend.
Can you change your hair color or texture?
We can color match your extensions to your natural hair color, or we can adjust your new growth's color before we add the extensions. We can also perform a texture service like a keratin treatment or Brazilian Blowout if you want to change the texture of your new growth. We would perform that service before installing your extensions.
How long does it take to get a full head of extensions?
We don't want to deter you, but you can expect to spend a good amount of time at the salon. Because we are adding extensions to your entire head, this is much more than a typical hair extensions application. It can take up to 8 hours in the chair, and even more if we're coloring your hair or doing a texture treatment before we start applying extensions. However, we are fortunate to have 2 stylists certified by ChemoGirls, which means we can work in tandem and drastically reduce the time you'll be sitting in the chair.
How are ChemoGirls Extensions applied?
The technique we use is different from our other methods. Unlike traditional fusion extensions, the hair is not pre-bonded. We gather micro sections of hair, apply the keratin-based adhesive, then attach them to your new growth.
How much do ChemoGirls Hair Extensions cost?
This service is labor intensive and comes with a higher price tag vs other extension methods. To put it in perspective, try to think about the long term. The initial appointment will include the cost of the hair, the first application, which will likely be the equivalent of up to 8 hours of time, and a blended haircut. We will also send you home with a collection of products valued at over $200 to help you maintain your hair.
Are hair extensions after chemo covered by insurance?
You may have some coverage under your health insurance plan and it's certainly worth inquiring about it. Hair extensions may qualify like a wig and you therefore may have some coverage, at least for the first application. If you plan to file for reimbursement with your insurance company, we'll work with you to provide the necessary paperwork and descriptions for your claim.
In Salon Maintenance
You'll need to return to the salon for maintenance appointments every three months. Your hair will have grown quite a bit in those 3 months, so we will gently remove your extensions and reposition them closer to your scalp. There will be a fee for this "move-up" appointment.
At Home Care
As with any type of hair extensions, at home care is key. Your hair will require extra conditioning and heat protection, and you'll want to make sure it doesn't tangle while you sleep or shower. At no additional charge, we provide you with a collection of products (valued at over $200) to help you care for your extensions at home. You'll receive a full size Shampoo, Conditioner, Hair Spray, Moisture Cream, Moroccan Oil, and a Hair Extensions Brush. We'll provide you with written instructions to take home as well.
